I take 50mg of Sertraline each night. My question is will

Resolved Question:

I take 50mg of Sertraline each night.
My question is will it be okay to also take a nutritional supplement (Advanced Sleep Formula by Dr. Ronald Hoffman for Vitamin Shoppe) that contains 25mg L-5-Hydroytryptophan, .75mg melatonin, 75mg Valerian, and 50 mg Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)?

I read something about seratonin sydrome but will that occur if I am taking 50 mg of sertraline and this supplement only occasionally?

Hi. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm pleased to try to help you today.

You really should talk with your Dr. about this - however, given that you are only taking 50mg of sertraline & wanting to add 25mg of hydrotryptophan, I can't see that it will be a problem. Best wishes. Tamara

So there won't be any crazy negative side effects (aka the seratonin syndrome?) I just couldn't find any information on safe amounts. I figured since it was such a low dosage for both it shouldn't be harmful. I will check with my pharmacist. Thanks.
