FaceBook & narcissism....asked to join by person I work with

Resolved Question:

FaceBook & narcissism....asked to join by person I work with-we have become real friends. Have used FB 6 months, only ask real friends to join (15). I do have an attractive photo, but it's me with my horse-she is my true love. I am retired, going through a very rough ordeal, must keep it very private-so nothing personal on FB. I do have many passionate interests that I follow, am on email lists with great info that I attach to my wall. Mostly relevant equine health articles-could be of help to someone-stuff that I learned really works & can help a horse. I have set up links to professionals who have helped my mare and I, whom I deeply appreciate. I post photos of my horses and scenery shots I take with my phone. Also, links to book, film reviews, music, my opinions about animal rights, equine rescue, respect for other cultures. I say little about me, as I want & need to be a private person. I feel like a magazine editor with good info and opinions. Am I narcissistic with FB?

Marley - I just posted but server lost it. I am psychologist, wife is HR professional. We both restrict access to Facebook to true friends and always exclude people we work with. You never know how it will be used. NO WAY are you are narcissist. Just a person with good judgment and boundaries. Keep private life yours. You sound like you have good sense. Keep using it.

Thank you. I do have access to a LOT of very cutting edge info for equine care, and have learned so much.
It feels good to pass it on, and then others can use it or not. Many on my FB list have horses. But there is a fine line, as we manage our egos. I think it's good to get a reality check at times.

I agree. There are other places if you want to go "public", but personal is personal. Our sites have our dogs, cats, ponies etc. For friends only. Never for work.
