My 8 year old daughter has pulled most of her eye lashes out.

Resolved Question:

My 8 year old daughter has pulled most of her eye lashes out. She does this in bed and said it because she is bored. This is the third time she has done it. We are going to the doctor tomorrow, not sure what she will recommend , we don't want to give her any drugs

DearCustomer

Thank you for the information,

As per the symptoms you have described, it is very likely that she is suffering from trichotillomania which is characterized by chronic, repetitive pulling of bodily hair.

It is a psychiatric disorder and behaviour therapy is very effective in treating it rather any drugs. You can also cut her eye lashes to small size so that she can't hold and pull it out apart from applying other techniques.

You should consult a psychiatrist or a behaviour therapist for this.

You should also rule out the other causes including any pathological condition of the eye though the chances are less in her case.
