Customer Question

I am 24 years old, and married with 2 kids. My mom thinks I need to be tested to see if I have bipolar disorder. I told her not yet. I am not suicidal just depressed and moody. If I do get diagnosed bipolar is there any chance I could lose my kids? I think that would push me over the edge.

Hi there,

Welcome to Just Answer !

Well, few things are not clear form your post which i would want to clarify by asking a few questions .

1)Why does your mother think that you are Bipolar disorder patient? Having depression and mood swings are certainly not the criteria for being able to get diagnosed as a Bipolar patient ? Also did a psychiatrist diagnose you with depression or is it just your self assessment that supports this diagnosis?

2)Are you separating from your husband , if not why do you think you will loose your kids ?

3)Are you on any medications , if yes please mention their names ?

4) Are you able to perform your duties as a mother and homemaker at home and duty that of a worker at work place effeciently , or are you having any social , and occupational impairment?

Kindly answer the queries against their numbers and i shall get back to with an appropriate answer.
