Customer Question

MXS69146 engine .. Just replaced turbo oil line from top turbo and it still leaks at bottom of hose and at the elbow , all washers are in place and everything nut is tight , any ideas ?
JA: We'll do all we can to help. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so the Heavy Equipment Mechanic can help you best.
Customer: run the engine at idle and after 5 minutes oil begins to leak from the hose !
JA: Is there anything else the Heavy Equipment Mechanic should be aware of?
Customer: Suffered a lot of crankase build up , found out someone fitted wrong filter to crankcase breather , removed it and the engine performed exactly as it should , 550 hp . Had in cat shop and not sure if filter was fitted for test purposes , I know I did not authorise anyone to replace breather filter.

Hi Thank you for that

are you sure there is no restriction where the oil returns to the pan/block

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
8000 miles and I need to add 1 gal of oil before oil leak occured !
Expert:  Wayne replied 3 months ago.

HI

I seem to think you still have back pressure

how much coming out of overboard breather

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
No restrictions that I can see . how would it restrict oil return ? there is an elbow then a nut which feeds directly into pan ! Nothing there to restrict oil return . unless crankcase pressure is high hindering oil return ! After removing filter engine performance is fantastic , no hesitation when power applied .

teaspoon of oil in breather tube cannister after 10,000 miles
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
overnight idling no oil on floor from breather tube .
Expert:  Wayne replied 3 months ago.

Thank you for that

there can be too much pressure

Do a simple test, run a line from the turbo return line

to the oil fill , see if it still leaks

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
will do , of course acert engine has everything accessible...NOT !
Expert:  Wayne replied 3 months ago.

HI

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Disconnected blow by hose from head , run engine to operating temp . No oil leak ! Re-connected hose and ran engine and still no leak ! Will take truck for a run tomorrow and if it leaks will do your test .
