Is it overheating? Has it overheated in the past? Is there any leakage showing around water pump when cold?

If it has been overheated in past, run a compression gas test on the gases coming off the radiator or from the overflow tank, If it shows exhaust gases, head or head gasket problem. Most auto supplies have the tester.

A water pump sucking air can cause it, and likley would show as cold leak at the pump.

If engine is overheating and then coolant comes out overflow, fan clutch and radiator need to be checked. And thermostat if engine rapidly overheats.
