Customer Question

Hi I have a Monaco Coachman 2003 with cummins ISM 300 engine. I have been a while in a campsite in Portugal. Today I was supposed to leave but when I tried to start engine stop, warning, and check engine started to blink and I also got the same sound as when I don't have enough of air in the system. It also seems that the Jacks don't go down

Hi Wayne I,ve started it as normal two days before my problem started. I tried to start it with the door open and step out. It didnt start, then I closed the door and it started, was going in 1 minute then it stop and the problem started. Seems that I can't get any EMC code cause I don't have a diagnostic switch

in the wire , make sure they are good

Hello Wayne I can't found the liftpump!
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Morning

We need to check the fuses 1st at the ECM

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Where is the fuse can't found it
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

HI

It is a inline fuse on the side of the motor

under the ECM computer

with big wire harness going to it

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I found two 30 a fuses in the battery compartment and when I took them away the ECM didnt work so it seems that the ECM got power
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

Thank you for that

OK, what you need to do is get a mobile mechanic, and hook up Cummins insite to the

computer and see what the codes are , can be a cam sensor, crankshaft sensor , faulty

sorry you did not want to hear this

Hi Wayne
My friend didnt hear the ticking sound. He was mistaken. There was a lot of noise from the road.
It was when I was laying under the motorhome I noticed that it was no ticking and then I checked if there where any power and found out there was nothing.

Can the ECM be stucked in a fault code wich I created when I tried to start with the door open?
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi Thank you for that

Yes it can , did you look for a fuse blown

disconnect the battery for 15 minutes

this may clear it

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
You mean disconnect the power to the ECM or the power for the Engine?
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

HI

disconnect the Negative side of the battery

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
You mean my two engine batteriet or all six?
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

Engine batteries

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
it does'nt matter that the ECM is grounded in the engine?
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

No we want to cut all power to the engine

so the computer can reboot itself

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I disconected the negative side of the engine batteries and waited 20 minutes before I connected it again. But nothing is different. It still flashes warning, check engine, and stop engine with a warning sound when I put on the ignition
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Can it be that fuse you are talking about, who is under the ECM? I havent still found it!
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

Thank you for that

it is 1 of 2 things

either the fuel pump fuse is blown, or the ECM is faulty

Do you know where the fuel pump fuse are on a Monaco Cayman 34,4 2003?
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

HI

No I do not the builders put them in different spots

Trucks they are in the Cab fuse panel

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Can't find any fuse who is specifiad as fuel pump in Monaco Book. Have to go out on internet and look. Have in battery compartment pump dag and ABS pump.
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

What you can do is run a Temp hot wire to fuel pump wire

to get it going and moved to a repair area

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Have been out on the internet and as I understood the fule pump gets power directly from the ECM. If I put a hot wire is there any way I can damage the system. If I start it in fault mode.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Are there any other way to reset the Computer
Expert:  Wayne replied 9 months ago.

Hi

That is correct, I forgot about the fault mode

So,no don not do it

need to get mobile Mechanic to hook up to the engine computer
