Customer Question

I personally own a 1994 Bluebird School Bus, forward engine, 5.9 Cummins, 24-seater, and I've got a problem with the front heaters.
On the front dash (below the door opener), there are two switches for heat - one for driver under the seat, and the other that blows air out the front dash-mounted vents. When I pull those switches to turn them on, they both come on and begin blowing warm air. However, within a few minutes, they shut off. Then they come back on and blow for a few moments/minutes, then sporadically shut off. Then back on for a few seconds, then off for awhile. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why they come on or go off.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Ryan

Hi I'm Wayne

I will help you with this

this sounds to me like the motor is shorted

and blowing the circuit breaker, cools down then resets

and continue the cycle,

I suggest to remove the motor, and put power to it direct

see if it gets hot, or wires get hot

if it does ,then replace the motors

I hope this helped you

Wayne,
Thank you for helping out here. I should mention that both of the heaters shut off and then go back on again at the same time. Does that change anything? I'm at work and can go home and try what you're suggesting a little later.
Thank you,
Ryan

Hi

yes it can be the motor or the resistor

the resistor powers both fans,

look for melted plug on resistor or motor

feel the wires for heat when running
