1997 dt466e won't start. It has over 2000 psi gh oil

Customer Question

1997 dt466e won't start. It has over 2000 psi high oil pressure when t'ed in after HPOP. Has good fuel pressure and good low oil pressure on dash gauge. When turning over I am getting no smoke whatsoever. On starting fluid it wont fire either.(I dont need a starting fluid scolding its a last resort) Makes me think its not get any fuel. I have the oil pressure and the fuel I don't understand. Has to be eletrical but where.

Hi I'm Wayne

I will help you with this

you need minimum of 4800 lbs of oil pressure to fire the injectors,

2000 lbs is not enough

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It only holds 1600psi. Probably injector o ring if dead head jumps.
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

Hi

yes , can be O-Ring,

remove valve cover crank over and see if you

have heavy oil leaking from valve train

if no then O-Ring

I have another dt530 and it cranks with 1400 psi
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

HI , Thank you for that

THat was a typo 480 lbs , not 4800 lbs

in either case ,did you remove valve cover to see if oil is leaking

check the ICP valve, looking for 750-800 Lbs

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I put a new icp in it and I have a tee going into the head
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That's where I have 1400
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

Thank you for that

So you replaced the ICP , not the IPR , correct

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Both. I replace icp today.
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

Hi

Let me get this correct

you replaced the ICP, IPR, and the HPOP pump,

you never answered my question that I asked 2 x ,

(A)did you remove valve cover and cranking over see oil spilling all over ????

(B) do you have smoke when cranking it

please answer A & B

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No on value cover because I have enough pressure. No smoke
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

Hi

So you are saying you did not remove valve cover to check for oil leahs ???

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No because I have the oil pressure I need
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

OK

Thank you for that

I am going to OPT-OUT

you are not checking things I ask

Sorry I could not help , you are not giving me info I ask for

I post this back to the board for another expert

Do not reply or rate me as it locks question back to me

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It makes no sense to do that. Seems for 65$ I'd get a little customer service.
Expert:  Wayne replied 1 year ago.

Hi there . My name is ***** ***** Can we start with the last 8 digits of the vin please ? Also which code were you chasing ? Thanks

Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Do you still need help sir?

I believe your ECM is not powering up ! This would why you are not getting smoke . Have you checked the ECM clean power feed harness all the way up to the ecm relay mounted on the firewall above the engine ? Do you have an engine warning lamp coming on and staying on ? If so , we need to check the flash code by using the diagnostics button on the dash . Press the button for one second with key on , then release , the ECM should start flashing the engine warning lamp . Codes are three digits long . So, example : blink , blink , pause , blink , blink , pause , blink , blink , pause is 222. Then it would proceed to flahs out the next code in memory .

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have one hot wire to ecm
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I also have 60psi fuel and 1600 high oil and about 40 low oil
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Codes are 543 211 113 124 122 332 312 253 242 222 224 543 221 622 615
Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

543 is for low IDM volts . Do you hear the injectors buzzing when you turn the key on to start ?

Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Hi there ! Did you hear the injectors buzz at key on ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'll check in the morning can't remember
Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Ok sounds good . Thanks

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No injectors are buzzing
Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Ok thanks . so we need to got to the IDM relay in the power distribution box and load test pin 30 . This is power straight from the batteries. Make sure you load it with a headlight. . It should come on nice and bright .

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Box under steering wheel?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What if the idm above the motor is good under load
Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Do you have Skype ? Perhaps we can continue that way . We can have an audio conversation and I can send you info that way too . We can diagnose this together over skype.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Naw I don't it load tested good
Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

The code 543 that you had is for low voltage to idm . This is the injector driver module and what fires off the injectors .

Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

Skype is free to download and after you have created an account , you would simply search for my contact name which I will give you after you accept the additional offer . Then we could have an audio conversation about it which would be more informative and I could send you all the info you would need on there as well . And I could be reached on there should you need me further .

Expert:  Andy replied 1 year ago.

So... going back to the problem at hand , your power loss to the IDM could be after the relay as well . There are a few connectors after the relay and before the IDM that are well known issues.
