Mr Cat Man, We built a 3412E that has lost oil pressure

Customer Question

Mr Cat Man, We built a 3412E that has lost oil pressure after a couple of weeks of running. We have checked all main bearings, camshaft bearings, oil galley plugs and installed a NEW oil pump. Also checked valves in filter base and can't find anything wrong. Do you have any ideas. Is there any common problems with this lubrication system and can you tell me how many rpm's this engine should turn when trying to crank?

Hi. Thanks for asking your question and requesting me. I will try and help you out.
Does it not have any oil pressure at all?
Have you installed a manual psi gauge in the block?

Its doesn't have any pressure at all and yes we installed a manual gauge.

I see. Thanks for the information.
There are not any known problems on this engine for low oil pressure that I'm aware of. Sorry.
I would be checking the same things are you have.
The only other things I can think of would be if there was a piston spray cooling jet knocked off. I have seen them cause low oil pressure if they are missing.
The crank speed is normally 150 to 175 RPMs.
