good morning I will try and help you please do not rate how poorly the website has treated you only rate my answers to you please.

I think it is a big Cam if not let me know spanky
You will need to find A,B,& C on your accessory drive pulley. The marks will be near the front cover on the pulley.
Also, you will see a arrow like pointer on the cover. That is what you line the marks up with.
You then will set the valve lash to .011 on the intake and .023 on the exhaust. The intake valves are the center ones under each valve cover.
You will set the lash in this order. You verify where to start by determining which set of valves are closed, meaning which rocker arms are loose.
The injectors should be set to 6in.lb. or snug with a screwdriver. Any other questions feel free to reply to experts.

Valve Inj.
A 3 6
B 6 2
C 2 4
A 4 1
B 1 5
C 5 3

Outer Base Circle (OBC) Injector and Valve Adjustment Sequence
Bar Engine inDirection of Rotation
Pulley Position A<B<C

I have the sn 11426950 , I saw that same procedure on another fellers answer, I'd do not recall that setting from the last time I did it. How do I find a bad injector?

Picture
Expert:  spankyjr1 replied318 days and 9 hours ago.

good morning the reason why you don't remember it is it used to be done with a dial indicator but now it is changed.
The best way to find the miss is pull the exhaust manifold and turbo plug the oil feed line and then you will be able to see which cylinder is missing it will either be cold or will be smoking once you have the manifold off it is very easy to tell which cylinder.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask me anytime thank you Spanky

Customer replied318 days and 9 hours ago.

I don't think that is correct, I never used a indicator before. That seems like a lot of work just to find a bad injector.

Hello?

Customer replied318 days and 7 hours ago.

THAT DID NOT WORK IT NOW RINS WORSE AND SMOKES

Picture
Expert:  spankyjr1 replied318 days and 7 hours ago.

what do you mean that did not work? And the only difference between what is now in what was then is it used to be 5 to 6 inch pound Tourque wrench that was for top stop injectors is that what you have a small cam? look at your cam side off engine and tell me how wide they are about a foot long and 21/2" or are they 4" wide?

Customer replied318 days and 6 hours ago.

I gave you the sn of the engine ! YES they are big,

Picture
Expert:  spankyjr1 replied318 days and 6 hours ago.

Ok then yes you have to pull exhaust to find the miss you can not bottom out injectors like you used to be able to do.B rite back

Customer replied318 days and 6 hours ago.

THAT IS TOO MUCH WORK,IS THERE SOMEOTHER WAY? IDID AS YOU TOLD ME ON THE ADJUSTMENT AND IT IS WORSE!!

Picture
Expert:  spankyjr1 replied318 days and 6 hours ago.

I don't have access to Cummins computers I have to go by what you said it was a nt.
nt stands for naturally aspirated, turbocharger you have a NHT which is a big cam engine I gave you specs for an NT engine. So please hold on and I will tell you how to do it the correct way

Picture

Outer Base Circle (OBC) Injector and Valve Adjustment Sequence
Bar Engine inDirection of Rotation
Pulley Position A<B<C
position a =you will adjust valves and injector on either number one or number six which ever has loose valves you adjust the valves and injector on the same cylinder.
a=1-6
b=2-5
c=3-4
intake valves are set to .011"
exhaust valves are set to.023"
injector is set to= bottom injector out 2 to 3 times to push out fuel once you find zero Lash back off half turn and lock down lock nut.
so as not to get confused the firing order is 1,5,3,6,2,4 you set valves and injector on same cylinder not like the small cam were you do it the other way.
You can start on any number just make sure you finish with same number to double check.
I apologize for the confusion before you do adjustments back off injectors 1 turn then go ahead and adjust this way.

I will pm him for you hold on and you can also check for a miss with a laser heat sensor it is hand held and you just point at it to get temperature

Wow intresting answers. I see why your engine worse now and if you set it as per the last setting given it would of been worse as that setting for the injectors is only used on Electronic engines not STC....Spanky is a good expert and i don't think he would seer you wrong.Anyway I see you have a Big Cam IV engine 444. And the setting are diffrent that you were told. Here are the correct settings dc. for your engine

Exhaust valve .27 thousands

Intake valve .14 thousands

Injector adjustment 105 inlbs.

A-1

B-5

C-3

A-6

B-2

C-4

To properly find a miss on these these engines use a temp gun on each exhaust port with the manifoild installed. Look for the cold or hottest cylinder.

Also since these are step timing controled injectors you CAN short them out by running the engine and useing a wrench on the adjustment lock nut for the injector. Press the rocker lever toward the inj to cut it out , you can hear a change in the engine. No change bad injector. if you need a new injector here is the part number

(NNN) NNN-NNNNX

Please let me know if i can help further.
