c-15 475hp engine Peterbilt 387 02, on uphill one of hoses

Customer Question

c-15 475hp engine Peterbilt 387 02', on uphill one of hoses for sleeper heating bursted, we stopped at the side, I closed all valves for sleeper heating, when i turned on truck oil lamp went on couple of times on my way to shop (2m away), I checked oil, all was fine, it was topped. In shop, they replaced hose, addded 8 gal of coolant (missed that much), and we continued trip.. after 300mi we arrived at destination,, I realized that coolant is leaking all the time from drainage hose.. I smelled it, seems to me its a fuel in it. So what can be a problem? lamp for oil went on couple of times again later, oil is topped, oil pressure is good.

Hi. Thanks for using JA! I will try and help you out.

If you have fuel in the coolant, you most likely have a failed injector cup o ring. I have seen this before. Because the fuel pressure is much higher than coolant pressure, the fuel will always go into the coolant. To confirm, you would need to remove the injectors and pressurize the cooling system.

Please let me know if you need more help.

CAT shop ask me for part number for cups and o rings, mechanic where I am say there is two type of o-rings and couple types of cups, so how to figure which one is right? engine number is XXXXX and last 8 digits of VIN are 3D811016.

Can be that part number found somehow?
