Customer Question

I was diagnosed with Beta Thallasemia at 17. Recently I have been very ill I had a colonoscopy which revealed multiple bleeding ulcers thought to be caused by NSAID use I have been taking the prescribed meds for months and no caffeine or spicey foods as I also had gastritis and GERD I have been flooding my body with probiotics, I still have same symptons nausea, severe headaches I have been taking meds to suppress and prescribed migraine medications to not use Excedrin migraine because of my stomach issues, I had a very abnormal blood test in 3/2017 and seen my hematologist which just made me feel like I am crazy. I have been researching the beta thal more and found that minor can have symptons my abdomen swells severely with activity and the headaches I have little no energy My last Differential seemed really off ---here are the results Band 3 % %

what is your question about this?

whether it is iron deficiency or beta thal?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
can there be another cause can the beta thal worsen and cause my symptoms?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 12 days ago.

Beta thal is pretty constant over your lifetime

It won't change

but I suspect you have iron deficiency on top of it now

is this helpful?

Customer: replied 12 days ago.
What is the best treatment for iron deficiency with beta thal?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 12 days ago.

You can't treat the beta thal so just replacing lost iron is the treatment
