If I have been taking .5mg Klonopin 7 times a day for about

Customer Question

If I have been taking .5mg Klonopin 7 times a day for about 7 months is it okay that my doctor just took me to two .5 mg a day. I am afraid it that is too much to drop it.
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: Yes. He is the one who dropped it. I am also on Suboxone two 8mg films. He got upset, well really I do not want to bash anyone. I just want to be sure it is safe. I have had a bad experience before
JA: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?
Customer: Elmiron, Prilosec, Zoloft, 3 10. Mg amytripyiline at hs. Klonopin .5 mg 2x day, Robaxin 750mg 2x a day pen. Promethezine 25 mg pen, lmitrex 100mg per day in needed
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: Addict can't think of anything right now. Is this going to cost me?

Hello this is Dr. Salama MD,

Typically, weaning of klonopin should be done on a gradual basis in order to prevent withdrawal.

I typically advise my patients to take half of their normal dose for each week.

So for week 1 I would take 0.5 mg 4 times a day then for week 2 drop it to 2 times per day.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

If not, please don't forget to leave a positive rating (bonus appreciated) as that's the only way I get credit for answering your question.

Thank you!
