Well, Trichomoniasis is an infection from a parasite, which spread primarily through sexual intercourse, this is contagious but curable.Unlike most other STDs trichomonas organism can survive outside body in a damp environment for quite some time. But even then the chances of transmission are very low. One can get trichomonas from these routes too--bodily fluids-contaminated bedding-damp towels-sheets-toilet seats-soiled towels, baths, and jacuzzis.Sharing gym towel, may be route for transmission of trichomonas, as towel provides damp environment for parasite to remain alive.
Please check this link-http://www.cdc.gov/std/trichomonas/stdfact-trichomoniasis.htmThis infection, is easily cured with single dose of prescription antibiotic medication (either metronidazole or tinidazole).
Hope this helped
