Customer Question

I have a small sore bump on the tip of my tongue that won't go away. I am 35 year old mother of 5, and I eat a fairly healthy diet.

Hi Dr. Ashori here.

Could you upload an image of this?

Expert:  Dr. Mo replied 2 months ago.

How long has it been there for and is there any pain in the throat of the rest of the tongue or is the pain localized to the tip of the tongue?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Actually there is no pain in the bump. It has remained the same size for roughly 4 years now. No pain elsewhere far as I can tell.

I thought you mentioned it was sore.

I see, so you've had it for 4 years, not much change.

It could be a mucocele, those can occur on the tongue.

But without seeing the lesion it would be hard to tell what it is.

Usually with tongue lesions that don't change much in appearance over time we leave them alone.

If someone is a smoker or heavy drinker we biopsy them.

Otherwise just monitor for changes, if it starts changing it would be an indication for a biopsy.
