Was the blood in the urine just detected on a urinalysis ? Or have you have Frank bloody looking urine? Or tea colored urine ?
There are a number of possible causes of blood in the urine ...
Kidney stones would be a more common cause ...
Infection within the bladder may cause bleeding of the wall of the bladder sometimes ( = hemorrhagic cystitis )
Frank bloody urine without pain do can be a concern for bladder cancer as a possible cause
Tea colored urine is more suggestive of KIDNEY disease -- there are a number of such -- IgA nephropathy / glomerulonephritis / interstitial nephritis ...
Kidney cancer as a possible cause too....
The urine tests may give clues ..
Other tests may be needed such as Renal CT / cystoscopy might be needed ..
A urologist may need be considered to start more detailed evaluation
