I have a 3 year old grandson and he's been having cold symtoms for about 2 weeks now. We've giving him childrens tylonal but nothing works. Can you suggest something? Thanks

JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: My step daughter just bought hylands cold and cough for kids. She wants to try that. So I hope it works and he doesn't have a case of the flu.

I'll be glad to help.

As you know in the case of both cold and flu - the primary cause is a virus and there's no cure for it.

Tylenol and motrin can control the fever however.

If the fever has been going on for over 2 weeks, there's probably another reason for the fevers other than just a virus. Most often, immune system becomes compromised during a viral infection - leading to a possible bacterial "co-infection".

I would recommend a work up by your provider for other causes - the most worrisome of which would be pneumonia.
