Medical Questions? Ask a Doctor Online!
Hello this is Dr. Stan and I will assist you with your question today. I am board certified and I have 40 years of patient experience. I am happy to help you. Thank you for this most interesting question. The major causes of clubbing are congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. First you need to stop smoking. Next, begin an exercise program (slow at first, then increased intensity to tolerance). Reduce the amount of dairy and fat in your diet. Eat whole grain products only, no white bread or pasta. Over time, the clubbing will decrease.
I am available to answer any additional questions you may have. Thank you for allowing me to provide assistance. I hope your medical problem(s) are resolved soon and you feel better. If you find the information I provided helpful, please rate me with 5-Stars. Thank you
It is not totally reversible but if the cause is removed (smoking, oxygen deprivation) there can be some improvement.
Clubbing is associated with respiratory, heart and gastrointestinal disorders. However no specific cause has been established. So, one could say that it symbolizes abnormal body function either self caused or beyond individual control.
