I am 35 year old male. I have been having digestive issues

Customer Question

I am 35 year old male. I have been having digestive issues and lightheadedness/anxiety for years. Over the past 3 weeks though, I've begun to lose weight,(was 29loss of appetite, sporadic stomach pain in different areas of the abdomen (mainly upper far right, upper left and lower left) and gurgling/popping sound in upper middle abdomen even when I don't eat. All of this has been followed by sporadic stools.. sometimes diarrhea with mush pieces (rarely) and mostly mushy/pudding like with a yellowish color, like mustard. Occasionally it's orange. All with some floating pieces. Bouts of intense Belching (usually in morning) but occasionally other parts of the day.
I've been to the E.R. multiple times. I've had multiple comprehensive metabolic panels, multiple CBCS, I've had an abdominal and pelvic CT SCAN with contrast, a chest CT scan, an ultrasound on my gallbladder and liver. I've also had a few Lipase screens.
A stool culture for occult blood and parasites are negative.
The only thing found was that my vitamin D was slightly lower than should be (24.5) and that I have a fatty liver.
My a1c glucose was OK too at 5.5.
My blood work came back OK for H Pylori.
Stool negative for c.diff.
I've had occasional hot flashes with a low grade temp..around 99.2-99.4 that lasts for maybe 20 to 30 minutes but last few days this hasn't happened as much.
I'm sure I'm missing something but my GP thought it had to do with my 11 days of antibiotic use for abcess tooth so he prescribed me Flagyl, which I haven't taken yet. My other ANP thinks it is anxiety/depression related and prescribed me Zoloft, which I haven't taken yet either.
I am not sure the next step.

Thank you

I am sorry you have bad anxiety for years

if you don't start our zoloft, you will continue to have anxiety and worry about missing something.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I understand. I meant missing something as far as a test or symptom.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

it is normal to have gurgling and popping sounds from your stomach in your upper abdomen

your stomach often will churn

anxiety can cause worse stomach acid.

Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

your testing isn't missing anything

your excessive anxiety symptoms are making you worried

Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

you shouldn't be skipping meals

you should be eating regular healthy meals

you should be working out and exercising to help decrease anxiety symptoms.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I am more focused on the digestive issues and why I cannot eat.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I have been less concerned with the anxiety as opposed to what is going on with my digestive system. I have access to all of my results if something grabs your attention.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

your anxiety is causing you nausea and upset stomach.

if you don't treat your anxiety symptoms you will continue to have upset stomach and not eat

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Why all of a sudden? I've always had anxiety and never have had issues with weight loss, fatigue, sporadic yellow floating stools and inconsistent bowel movements.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I've never had loss of appetite or anything like this before.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Long and short I was 290 lbs 3 weeks ago and now down to 274.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I have been on prilosec for 12 years.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
My GP switched me to Prevacid which there was no difference. In 2015 I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. They found polyps and gastritis in stomach.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

it sounds like you do need to have some weight loss.

your GI symptoms are not dangerous. they are not pointing to a dangerous issue.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Even with yellowish floating bowels? Pain in upper quadrants? Nausea? Excessive belching? Excessive flatulence? Loss of appetite? These are not dangerous? Especially with a recent onset of symptoms?
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I do agree I need to lose weight. But not like this.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

yes, these are not dangerous

you need better treatment of your anxiety symptoms. that is what you need.

and you need to be eating regular healthy meals.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
But I can't is my point. Up until 2 to 3 weeks ago, I could eat fine. Now, out of nowhere, I've lost my appetite and eat sporadically because it makes me feel sick.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Plus yellow floating stools etc.Could we discuss test results more in depth?
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

bad anxiety can cause nervous bowels and faster bowel transit which can cause yellow floating slools.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Even though I've never had these symptoms? All of these symptoms are new to me.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

that is ok they are new.

they are not dangerous

you need treatment of your anxiety symptoms

or else you will not get better.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I feel as if you saw the word anxiety and completely ignored my stomach symptoms.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I woke up with stomach pain and just had a loose bowel movement. That is diarrhea and is yellow.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

you can see your doctor about this.

I bet they will not be worried about yellow bowel movements

and I bet your doctors would recommend treatment for your anxiety symptoms

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
You said food can move through the stomach faster with anxiety. It's not moving faster. I can eat and not have a bowel movement for hours. I ate oatmeal at 8pm last night. It's 6am now and I have yellowish diarrhea with excessive belching and abdominal discomfort.
Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I am not denying that the anxiety needs to be treated. I do not believe the symptoms are related.
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 month ago.

excessive belching is due to excessive stomach acid in your stomach

there are medications which can decrease stomach acid in your stomach.

anxiety can cause your stomach to produce too much stomach acid.

you could be sensitive to gluten in your diet. there is some gluten in oatmeal.
