is clexane normal to give a patient the just broke their ankle. The patient is a 36 year old female. She has no blood clotting issues. 6 weeks of clexane therapy is being recommended. I never heard of such a thing. Have you?

Clexane injection contains the active ingredient enoxaparin, which is a type of medicine called a low molecular weight heparin

if you are being more sedintary in bed more, breaking an ankle could potentially increase your risks for blood clots.

however, if you still stay active and don't stay in bed and get around on crutches and move around, chances for blood clots are low.

this research study from canada says that anticoagulation is not needed in lower leg fractures.
