74 y/o female with regular visits to MD having increasing

Customer Question

74 y/o female with regular visits to MD having increasing readings on parathyroid hormone tests (from 63 to 98) within 11 months. Results listed as H, but not C on e-record. As we prep to speak with I.M., what would be 1or 2 key questions? THANKS!!!

This is Dr. David

normal parathyroid hormone levels are 10 to 55 pg/mL

your parathyroid hormone glands could be producing too much hormone

you need get blood test to check your calcium levels

and you need a thyroid ultrasound scan to check the parathyroid glands which are next to the thyroid glands.

you may need surgery to cut out some of the parathyroid glands if your levels continue to go up
