My dad has been diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Customer Question

My dad has been diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He is in the inactive stage so will be monitored. Do people always die from this condition and does the inactive stage always go into the active stage?

This is Dr. David

I am a cancer doctor

CLL chronic lymphocytic leukemia can be a very very very slow growing leukemia

and can take years and years for it to turn into a more active leukemia.

it can be watched for years without treatment safely

many times, patients can die of other natural causes and not die from CLL

it doesn't always turn into an active leukemia stage.

your doctor will continue to monitor his blood testing and blood levels
