What can substitute desmopressin that does not lower sodium?

Customer Question

What is a substitute for desmopressin that does not lower sodium?
I have prostate cancer and do not want to wet the bed......desmopressin has done that for me, but my doctor says it contributes to my experiences with low sodium over the years.....so I took vesicare last night and woke up wet and was very upset......what can i do?

Hello

Why were you using desmopressin

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I was using desmopressin to not wet my bed at night....I am incontinent from prostate cancer. however my urologist said it was contributing to my low sodium and put me on vesicare as a substitute, so now I wake up every day with a wet bed and it stinks.

There is no exact substitute.

Desmopression is used when you have a deficiency in antidiuretic hormone.

If that is not the case, and it is prostate, vesicare is not the right drug either.

You would need a drug like flomax.

I would see a urologist.

Will I hear back from you on what I can get to not wet my bed, and not have low sodium......I take about 20 medications...klonopin, remeron, saphris, lovastatin, and others. I have tried flomax in the past without a good result I think. I have already seen a urologist and will try tomorrow to refill my flomax.

No. We do not treat, and we do not replace your doctors visit.

There are also other choices than flomax.

Proscar and Avodart are in another class.

Ask about these.

Saw Palmetto Berry is an herb that can help, so ask about this.
