Customer Question

I've had a bad case of sciatic from a previous injury to my back/pelvis. I know I have been overdoing it walking my dogs and aggravating it even more. Now my knee area is slightly swollen. Is this from aggravating the nerve even more? Thank you.
JA: What seems to make the symptoms worse or better? Have you noticed any swelling?
Customer: My dog is constantly pulling me on walks, and yesterday I fell. Before the pain subsided when I rested, laid down and/or used a heating pad. Now it is constant.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: No. Just major injuries from a car accident in 1998.

I'm Dr Chaithanya attending you now

Sciatica can be aggravated by more strenuous works, but your knee pain and swelling is not related to sciatica

Knee pain can be due to the injury that you have fallen due to dog pulling you

Apply a alternate heating pad and cooling pad[Ice cubes in towel] on the knee

Take Ibuprofen tablets twice day and rest for 3 days, the pain should come down

If pain severe and bothering too much, we need take an x ray to know if some internal injury in the knee happened

Hope this helps
