I have a lump at the exit point of the anus. It is painful

Customer Question

I have a lump at the exit point of the anus. It is painful when touched or if I sit on it. I am unsure if it is something serious or not. How do I confirm what it is without actually going to a doctor in person since I don't feel comfortable with that.

Hello

Hemorrhoid

Not serious.

Treatment is hot sitz baths, stool softeners and a cream like

preparation H.

Be sure to show this to your doctor as well.

This is Dr. David

most likely this is an infected or irritated hemorrhoid

but you have to see a doctor to get it examined to know for sure.

sometimes anal cysts or anal polyps or anal fissures or anal glands can cause a lump in the that area and get infected and swollen.

sitz baths should be at room temperature

what is better than preperation H on swollen hemorrhoids is over the counter 1% hydrocortisone steroid cream used twice a day for 1-2 weeks which can help calm down hemorrhoid inflammation.

let me know if you have other questions.

if done for now, please leave positive rating of 3-5 stars so I can get credit for helping you today
