I have a prescription mg. Sensipar. My pharmacy breaks it

Customer Question

I have a prescription for 120 mg. Sensipar. My pharmacy breaks it down into one 90 mg. and one 30 mg., I am assuming that the 120 mg. is hard to get, and then charges me for two prescriptions when in reality I have only one. Is this legal?

Hi there ...

Thank you for the question ...

Please tell me Do you need 120 mg pill or in 90 mg strength ?

Regards .

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

That is not correct.

You can be given 60 mg 2 tablets daily with total 60 pills a month on a single prescription.

The cost is the same as 90 mg and 30 mg pills together.

But you will just have to pay one copay.

Please discuss with your doctor also.

I need the 120 mg. I believe that it costs the pharmacy money to get that strength and therefore they break it into one 90mg and one 30 mg. They give me two prescriptions to add up to the one and then charge me for two. I have paid in the past, but I believe that it is wrong when in reality I have only one prescription. Also, can I get my money back from past payments?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I have received the 120 mg. dosage from them in the past.
Expert:  Dr Basu replied 11 months ago.

There is no 120 mg pills.

that has been discontinued.

the pills come in 30,60,90 mg strengths.

If the pharmacy does 60 mg pills then they can fill in single script with 60 pills a month.

Discuss this option.

Cost is the same.

But you will have to pay for one script.

The Sensipar comes in 30 mg, 60 mg , 90 mg., 120 mg. and 180 mg. I was given a prescription for 120 mg. dose of Sensipar. Could someone please tell me if giving me two separate prescriptions in a 90 mg. dose and a 30 mg. dose and charging me for two is legal; And, if I could get my money back for paying for two prescriptions in the past?
Expert:  Dr Basu replied 11 months ago.

That is not legal --charging for 2 prescriptios while your dose clearly states 120 mg daily.

You should get your money back.
