Psychiatrist: All things being equal, would a 53 year-old

Customer Question

For a psychiatrist: All things being equal, would a 53 year-old male patient with Major Depression and Anxiety be likely to benefit most from Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) ? This patient experienced mild seizures as an infant, with gradual reduction in numbers and severity through age four (4). Mental health symptoms did not appear until age 43, which was the result of sever spousal abuse and eventual separation. Thank you.

Hi there ...

Thank you for the question ...

ECT and TMS Are additive or add up therapy with medication .

Alone these are least effective .

Drugs maintain level of transmitters in brain and help to overcome depression.

So you should be on medication .
