Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Which heart burn pill and how many times a day you take?

Your symptoms are due to the night time severe acid reflux disease.

Acid can cause thick mucus production from irritation of the esophageal and oral mucus lining.

H pylori infection is often associated with resistant acid reflux disease.

Omeprazole 20 mg twice daily is the standard recommended for about 8 weeks.

However an endoscopy is also recommended for further evaluation besides H pylori testing.

H pylori infection will require triple antibiotic therapy for complete cure.

Diet plays a vital role.

Avoid caffeine, NSAIDs, alcohol spicy food for now.

High fiber diet in small portion sizes recommended.

Head end of the bed should be elevated during sleep by at least 45 degrees to prevent reflux.

Clothes around the stomach area should be loose to avoid too much pressure.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.

I am taking the omne one medication 20mg but I have just been doing one at night so I will bump that to two.
I do have a lap band would that be causing anything?
It is so hard to sleep because when I lay down there is this gurgling sound and then I gag and cough up so much yuck I have to keep a bowl by my bed to spit up in
Expert:  Dr Basu replied 1 year ago.

Lap band can cause acid reflux if it is little too tight.

Gurgling in stomach can be due to the excessive gas formation.

You should watch your diet.

You should consider following low fermentable sugar diet ( FODMAP diet) to reduce your symptoms.

I will suggest you get the endoscopy soon.

Best wishes,
