I have had chronic sore throat. Had two strep tests - both

Customer Question

I have had chronic sore throat for months. Had two strep tests - both negative. White patches all over throat that don't appear to be pus.
JA: The Doctor will need to help you with this. Please give me a bit more information, so the Doctor can help you best.
Customer: My tonsils are red and lumpy.
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Doctor should know?
Customer: I have been sleeping way more than usual, but I have have iron deficient anemia so I thought it could be that causing it. I also have acid reflux but have never noticed the girg to go that high up unless it happens when I sleep. I am a smoker - although I've cut back considerably and am trying to quit. Can acid reflux cause white patches that aren't pus like? Also wondering about mono - does mono create white patches that don't appear to be pus like?
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer where you can place your fully refundable $5 deposit (plus $29 after the Doctor responds). While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Doctor about your situation and connect you two.

Hello

Yes, acid reflux can chronically irritate your tonsils.

Mono causes a sore throat, which usually resolves within a week or two.

Not so much patches.

You also have to make sure you don't have tonsiliths, which are like stones that fit in the crevices of the tonsils.

Yes

As can acid reflux.

Acute tonsilitis would not last for 2 months typically.

You could have chronic inflammation which can do it.

Please click a positive.
