Dr. I have been on a z-pak sore throat and upper respiratory

Customer Question

Hello, Dr. I have been on a z-pak for a sore throat and upper respiratory infection... The respiratory issue is OK now. But I still have sore throat and ear. Can I take some amoxicillin ?
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: Sure...My GP suspects that these respiratory issues were linked to undiagnosed asthma. I was also put on prednisone and a steroid inhaler (once a day...rinse mouth).
JA: OK got it. Last thing — Doctors generally expect a deposit of about $34 to help with your type of question (you only pay if satisfied). Now I'm going to take you to a page to place a secure deposit with JustAnswer. Don't worry, this chat is saved. After that, we will finish helping you.

Thanks for this question.

I doubt the amoxicillin would help much. Pretty much every infection that would be covered by the amox is already covered with the z pack. It probably wouldn't hurt you at all but this isn't really necessary

sounds more viral

if it persists the amoxicillin might be more indicated
