Have Medical Questions? Ask a Doctor Online!
Hello from JustAnswer.
Have you tried taking any cough medicines thus far?
What chronic medicines are you taking?
You have already been taking two good medicines for cough. The only other options that would be available over teh counter would be to add either an antihistamine or a decongestant. It is appropriate to avoid th sedating antihistamines, but it would be OK to take one of the newer non-sedating antihistamines, such as loratidine or cetirizine. It also would be appropriate to be cautious about using a decongestant if you are taking certain medicines, particularly medicines for hypertension or heart disease.
If I can provide any clarification, please let me know.
