Hello!

No pain in the chest is not normal!!

The first priority is to rule out heart related pain...

If you feel POSSIBLE that you could be having heart related chest pain it is safest to call 911......

Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 12 months ago.

My response continues but you do what you need to do at

S first priority....

Age 49 is of enough age that acute coronary syndrome is possible but other causes of chest pain exist certainly....

The type or quality of chest pain may help... Most typical for angina or heart related chest pain would be a dull pain or pressure at the lower center to left chest as most typical....variations of angina do exist....

Heartburn or reflux may cause a burning sensation in the chest ....this is a common problem causing chest discomfort too....

think im going to call my doctor in the morning .
is that good thing to do
Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 12 months ago.

At the very least see your doctor if you feel confident it is not heart related.....

Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 12 months ago.

What part of chest hurts?

Do you have heartburn?

You may try an antacid such as Mylanta or TUMS to see if it gives some relief...

Do you have nausea?

Shortness of breath?

Any radiation of pain to arms or neck or back?

Anything that makes the pain worse ? Better? ( position or deep breath as examples ...)

Expert:  Anthony Bray, MD replied 12 months ago.

The issue of chest pain does become complex very quickly...

The severity of discomfort and the quality of discomfort may affect your needed approach....for example a very heavy pressure sensation in lower center/ left chest with nausea and cold sweats and perhaps feeling short of breath would be the most concerning pattern....

On the other hand day you hurt in the center chest with a burning quality immediately after drinking a glass of Orange juice ( very acidic ) then that would more fit with heartburn type pain.. .

thank you for your help . doctor anthony

If you have pain near sternum but we're doing push ups today and you have a tender area to press on the anterior chest near the sternum then this may fit with costochondritis ...(inflammation of the cartilage segment between the sternum and ribs...)
