the response to therapy is often slower in patients with late disease, particularly late neurologic manifestations.

ceftriaxone is used for neurological and cardiac involvement.

Expert:  Internist replied 1 year ago.

ceftriaxone ( rocephin ) is used for neurological and cardiac involvement.

if she does not have neurological or cardiologic involvement, she may be benefitted from doxycycline. ( it is cheaper than rocephin )

Doxycycline is often used because it is effective in treating a potential coinfecting agent, Anaplasma phagocytophilum.
