GI doctors prescribe it as well as Reglan with erythromycin or bethanechol which can improve gastric emptying without improving nausea.
Many disorders like acute disorders (acute gastroenteritis, postopration, vestibular neuritis, chemotherapy, drugs) and chronic disorders (pregnancy, functional nausea and vomiting, gastroparesis, GERD, gastroesophageal reflux, gastric outlet obstruction, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, cyclic vomiting syndrome, chronic idiopathic intestinal pseudo obstruction, rumination syndrome). Otolaryngologist, OB & GYN, pediatrician, general practitioner, and so forth.
A prokinetic drug like Reglan plus an H2-blocker improves the response but the combination is not as effective as omeprozole. They are not main medications for GERD currently. We usually use proton pump inhibitors like omeprozole.
