I had a colostomy reversal back in may.... I had a colostomy

Customer Question

I had a colostomy reversal back in may.... I had a colostomy reversal back in may. Then debridement in June twice due to abcesses. My question is today I have noticed by my belly button and scar my abdomen is moving like an alien is trying to get out.
Also in that area it gets bloated and tight after I eat. This area always feels strange. When I cough it feels like something moves. My abdomen still gets sore. Why would my abdomen be moving around for me to see?

This is Dr. David

it sounds like you most likely have a ventral hernia after your surgery

a hernia is a weakness in your abdominal wall lining

and your bowels are pushing up against your thin abdominal wall skin.

you need to talk to your surgeons about a possible hernia

and if an abdominal elastic velcro binder could help your abdomen

you might benefit from loosing weight to decrease pressure within your abdomen

let me know if you have questions.

I have lost 60 pounds. So this isn't an emergency then. Sounds like another surgery?

Eating makes it feel real tight

it sounds like a possible hernia.

that is good you have lost weight.

you might need another surgery to fix a hernia.

when do you see your doctors again for a follow up examination?

I went to emergency room they just took an xray said all looks fine. That didn't help me with my scar moving about like something is moving underneath it.

an xray doesn't see very well into the abdomen.

you need a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis which can see inside

do you have a doctor who can order a CT scan for you?
