I have external, and internal hemmorhoids, and the pain

Customer Question

I have external, and internal hemmorhoids, and the pain associated with bowel movements causes me to vomit or almost pass out. Is there anything over the counter that can lessen the pain? I've tried Prep H ointments and creams and Recticare (OTC), as well as Lanacane (OTC) and Lidocaine (5%). I am quite miserably and constantly hurting. Scheduled a Proctologist exam but it is 3 weeks out. What can I do until then?

Thank you for your question...Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone, or use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent. Sit in plain warm for 10-15 minutes

Do not wipe bottom with toilet paper. You can use acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), aspirin or ibuprofen

If all these measure do not help to reduce the pain then you have to seek urgent care. Let me know if you have questions.
