I over indulged in drinking alcohol 3 days ago a lot, not

Customer Question

I over indulged in drinking alcohol 3 days ago a lot, not drunk but feeling darn good. The third day I felt a little pain on my left kidney side while asleep. I got up and took 2 aspirin's and it went away slightly. The next evening it I had it again slightly. The fourth day in the p.m I started urinating some blood but had no slight pain. When I do drink I only have 2 to 3 beers or shots on weekends.
Has this occurred because of too much alcohol in my blood and passed through my kidney's?

Hi there,

Yes alcohol has direct toxic effect on the kidneys --can cause bleeding from the glomeruli and also from the bladder.

Another possibility can be the passage of small kidney stone.

Alcohol acts like a diuretic and can flush out a small stone which can cause pain and then blood in the urine.

Probably nothing serious.

But this warrants a clinical evaluation by your doctor as well.

Please avoid drinking for now.

Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
