Customer Question

Dr. Owen. I'm a 43 yr old male that's in good shape/health. I recently noticed my xiphoid process seems to be swollen. I feel a lump when I press on it. It's visible if I lean back. I just recently noticed this. I work out a lot. Could this be a strain? I have a little back pain when I breathe in, or stretch, as well. Thank you for any input..

I just noticed the inflammation in the past month. Just wondering if/when to seek medical attention. It doesn't really bother me, but I'm curious as to why it's swollen. Thank you.

hello
It would not be from strain.
A lipoma or fatty tumor is possible.
You would need an exam to confirm this.
This type of tumor is harmless.
OK, so that is an initial answer….
