Customer: replied 1 year ago.
50 y/o male no other health problems except prostate number was elevated( sorry forgot what blood test was called) at 2.3 and dr said wanted it below 1
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 1 year ago.

How long has it been like this?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Last two blood tests.....dont think he had ever had a complete cbc done before that
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 1 year ago.

OK. He might just run low platelets and a low WBC. Some people do.

However, if this persists, he needs to see a hematologist (blood doctor).

He would need a workup. It could be a bone marrow disorder like myeloma or leukemia

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is there a way to rule these out cause leukemia does run in the family
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can b12, folate, or ferritin defeciency cause this? What other blood results can help rule leukemia out besides a biopsy
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 1 year ago.

You would need blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy

b12, folate and iron deficiency would NOT cause this

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Certain sites do say b12 deficiency can cause low platelet count. Is that not right?
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 1 year ago.

That is not correct. And it will not cause a low wBC
