Do you have any other medical conditions?
Are you on any other medications?
To address constipation, please increase dietary fibers, and take a stool softener like metamucil 2 tablespoon full daily.
You can also take senna tablets daily as needed.
Ankle swelling can be due to the medication side effect like from norvasc.
This can be due to the following possibilities:
1.Peripheral vascular disease-- this refers to the blockage of the arteries supplying your calf muscle. The stopping distance is known as intermittent claudication.
Atherosclerosis, arterial spasm, pressure on the artery from outside ar some of the causes.
2. Blood clots or DVT-- unlikely but still a possibility.
3. Kidney failure
4. heart failure
If these conditions are ruled out, then your symptoms are purely varicose veins related.
You should consider wearing compression stockings during daytime to prevent swelling.
Compression stockings can be prescribed by your doctor and available in medical equipment stores.
Low dose diuretic like Furosemide ( Lasix) 20 to 40 mg daily can be used to reduce leg swelling.
Follow a low sodium diet and restrict fluid intake to 1500 ml daily or less.
Please see your doctor soon.
It was my pleasure to help you today.
