Hi there,Chronic severe constipation ultimately results i backed up stool i the intestine. At last, intestine starts contracting vigorously to expel the stool and this can cause grumbling and discomfort from the excess contractions. This should subside on its own.Simethicone or GasX strips can be tried to help with the grumbling.Ultimately, you will need to address the constipation issue.Linactolide is one such medication which helps with chronic constipation associated with IBS.Lubiprostone is another new medication effective in such cases. You should follow a high fiber diet.Stool softeners like Miralax powder should taken daily.Stimulant laxatives like bisacodyl and senna tablets can be combined with miralax.A rectal enema ( Fleet's enema) also can be tried as needed.
