I had open heart bypass surgery 14 May 2015. Could only fix

Customer Question

I had open heart bypass surgery 14 May 2015. Could only fix main central artery. Experienced extreme shortness of breath day 7 and 8. Many tests later no explanation. Went home day 9 still clueless. Home health care for 30 days. Finally had pulmonary tests...no explanation. I am taking cardiac rehab. No problems with breathing. Carried 15 lb watermelon into house. Extreme shortness of breath. What could be causing this.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Thanks for requesting me.
This is very interesting.
Persistent shortness of breath can be due to the pulmonary embolism or blood clot in the lung blood vessels.
A VQ scan should be considered.
Since all the blood vessels to the heart could not be fixed, that can be a problem here.
Your heart may not be able to take too much work load due to the compromise in coronary blood flow.
I am not certain what tests exactly were done, but you definitely need a stress echo test or a CT coronary angiogram.
If this is angina related, then anti angina treatment can be considered with Ranolazine, calcium channel blocker etc.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us today. If you have any additional questions or need further clarifications, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here to answer them. I wish you good health. Regards, ***** *****
