Any blood in the stool at age 69 indicates the need for a colonocopy, which we typically do for screening at age 50,60 and 70.
Often it is simply hemorrhoids, but polyps and diverticulosis must be ruled out.
Any polyps would need to be removed to make sure they are not cancer.
