Customer Question

My 92 year old aunt just had partial hip replacement after fracturing it when she fell. The surgery was Monday and she has not had any pain until today. She is experiencing terrible pain and it is 48 hours since her surgery. No pain prior to this. Is this typical, or is there something wrong. She is in Florida and I am in Chicago.
thank you for your help

Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and I'm ready to help.
terrible pain is not typical
she needs to call up her surgeon and go to the ER for evaluation
they can do xrays of the hip to make sure the prosthesis is in the right position.
she might need stronger pain medications.
she can call up 911 to bring her to the ER for evaluation as soon as possible
let me know if you have questions.
