Customer Question

I am very healthy - no chronic or systemic issues other than some arthritis in one toe joint. Weight/ BP etc all good.54 yrs old, active female. But my left deltoid (?) shoulder muscle is inflamed,,painful and has not responded to RICE plus aspirin. And it's been doing this for 2+ weeks. I suspect the possible involvement of vervical nerve issue.a pinch? There has even minor left finger tingling. NO trauma or bruise/injury of any kind.
I am "on vacation" and 14 hours from home GP. Walk in clinics are my only (known) option.
I have BC/BS insurance.
I want to "wait it out" and continue ice pack/"hot pad type treatment, but it never seems to improve. Do NOT suspect cardiac involvement.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Thanks for detailed and succinct description of your problem.
Indeed this can be deltoid muscle inflammation.
Yes cervical nerve involvement can cause delayed healing process.
Usually the pain will be severe when you exert the muscle most.
Instead of aspirin, you can try over the counter Ibuprofen 3 tablets with food 3 times daily.
Ibuprofen is much stronger than aspirin.
Also using a sling will help to rest the muscle better.
I will suggest a clinical evaluation in the urgent care as well and prescription pain medications if ibuprofen does not hold.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us today. If you have any additional questions or need further clarifications, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here to answer them. I wish you good health. Regards, ***** *****
