My husband woke up in the middle of the night with severe chills.

Customer Question

my husband woke up in the middle of the night with severe chills. His body didn't feel cold but he just kept shaking. I checked his temp. his blood pressure and his sugar and all were in the normal range. Took about 4 hrs for them to go away. Any suggestions?

Hello, this is Dr. David. I have read your question and I'm ready to help.
he could be fighting off a viral infection or flu infection
many viral infections or cold infections can cause severe chills and shaking and no fever and normal blood pressure and normal blood sugars.
he should still see a doctor today about his shaking and symptoms.
he should get blood work to check his complete blood count and white blood cell count to see if he has an infection.
he might need to drink more fluids and chicken soup to help and more natural vitamin C in his diet can help
he might need IV fluids if he is dehydrated.
do you have an hospital or urgent care center where he can go to see a doctor to see if he is starting to have a bad viral infection?
