This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
You can go to the ER for fastest response.
You need rib xrays first to rule out any fracture.
In most cases, the fracture is nondisplaced.
That does not require any surgical fixatino.
Can be managed conservatively.
However, if there is lung
injury or significantly displaced fracture then it will require surgical intervention
That can be arranged for in the ER.
So you are better off going to the Er for initial management.
Avoid any contact activities for now, avoid heavy lifting.
The rib fracture usually heals within 6 to 10 weeks.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us today. If you have any additional questions or need further clarifications, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here to answer them. I wish you good health. Regards, ***** *****
