Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Ok I do get your worries given the strong family history.
One reassuring thing, your 5 yr old colonoscopy did not show any cancerous polyps.
Bright red blood can come from benign polyp, or diverticular disease as well.
And the worst case scenario, even if you have cancerous polyp, that will be in very early stage --so completely curable.
Since you do not have any other symptoms like anemia, wweight loss, loss of appetite, or severe constipation, I do not think, there is any question of metastasis or spread in the even of cancerous polyp being the case.
So even the worst case scenario does not seem that bad.
The cnaces of being benign cause is still overwhelmingly high.
Do not worry too much till the next colonoscopy.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us today. If you have any additional questions or need further clarifications, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here to answer them. I wish you good health. Regards, ***** *****
