Hi.

Symptoms. The past four days.

Cramps (Lower ab). Gas. Two bowl movements a day. Solid in the morning. Later in the day, loose stools but not watery. Not woken at night by symptoms. This morning normal brown stool, good shape. But, later this morning, Stool was darker than normal. Didn't look red but more of a maroon, kinda spongy. Had an occult blood test two months ago and it came back negative, as part of a physical. I'm 47 with no family history of Colon Cancer or really, any cancers. Took a probiotic last night. Not a meat eater. Eat fruits and veggies everyday. Sometimes my stool color is green because of the amount of veggies I consume in one day. Also, have anxiety disorder.

Morning

Dr. Phil, MD :

Hi I'm dr. Phil. Can I ask your first name?

Customer:

Chris, pleasure to meet you

Dr. Phil, MD :

Hi Chris. Nice to meet you too

Dr. Phil, MD :

Do you drink alcohol, smoke or take any OTC pain killers like advil?

Customer:

No, none of the above

Dr. Phil, MD :

Okay good.

Dr. Phil, MD :

However, maroon stool indicates an upper or middle GI bleed Chris

Dr. Phil, MD :

I am worried about that.

Dr. Phil, MD :

GI bleeds can also come spontaneously

Customer:

Okay

Dr. Phil, MD :

even if you had a normal occult blood lately

Customer:

ahhhhh

Dr. Phil, MD :

sorry Chris

Customer:

Could it be anything other than something serious?

Dr. Phil, MD :

I suppose it could be diet related

Customer:

So botXXXXX XXXXXne, really, is to see a GI doctor

Dr. Phil, MD :

I would start with seeing a general doc ASAP for a stool test.

Customer:

Was just wondering if it was just an intestinal infection

Dr. Phil, MD :

If the stool is normal, then I would worry

Customer:

Okay

Dr. Phil, MD :

it could be an infection....sure that is possible but that shouldn't cause bleedin like that

Customer:

Okay, appreciate it

Dr. Phil, MD :

you're welcome Chris.

Dr. Phil, MD :

Any more questions for me?

Customer:

thank you

Customer:
